Arc Edge v1.0.8
Overview
Arc Edge is a Blender add-on designed to create and measure finite arcs for scientific research and analysis. The tool specializes in measuring the distance along finite arcs—curves that do not form perfect symmetrical shapes like circles or ellipses—by identifying a symmetrical reference point on the arc where it begins to curve away from its starting position. This measurement approach uses a matching circle circumference (represented as an eighth of a circle) to establish a symmetrical system for quantifying asymmetrical, finite arc geometry.
The add-on is particularly useful for analyzing fluid dynamics and real-world physical systems where defined metrics like velocity, volume, or pressure need to be measured. By measuring finite arcs and extracting data from Blender geometry, users can feed that measurement data into simulations and other tools for practical applications and feedback. The tool can also measure Blender’s default geometry objects alongside custom arcs.
Arc Edge is a measurement-focused tool rather than a full simulation engine. While other capabilities exist in the native Arc Lake application, Arc Edge within Blender functions primarily to quantify arc geometry and extract dimensional data for scientific use. The add-on works with Blender 5.0.1 and later versions.
