This is a mini-series in my environment art tutorial – Everything I learnt about environment art.
The first mini-series is based on sculpting materials in ZBrush. I usually spend time on my art, trying to improve my skills; I wanted a project that allowed me to focus purely on improving my sculpting skills, specifically targeting material definition. I looked for tutorials on this, but they were typically focused on a specific asset. I set up my project and created a tutorial to share what I learned.
The project focused on creating studies of materials, starting with primitive objects available in ZBrush, such as cubes or spheres, and creating a cool portfolio piece while practising sculpting. I hope you enjoy it, follow along, and make your own cool studies!
The tutorial is broken down into chapters. You can see the chapters, details and runtime below.
- Chapter 1 – Introduction, Project Overview, Zbrush Basics – 35m runtime
- Chapter 2 – Sculpting Wood, Metal, Rock & Concrete – 4h 41m runtime
- Chapter 2 – Rendering – 30m runtime
