Blender & Nuke VFX Workshop

By Compositingacademy in Blender Included

Overview

This workshop explores advanced VFX compositing by combining Blender and Nuke with experimental A.I. workflows. Taught by a senior compositor with experience at major studios including Weta Digital and Industrial Light & Magic, the course focuses on artistic principles and practical techniques rather than software basics. You’ll analyze visual approaches from films like Dune and The Creator, studying complete Nuke scripts with step-by-step walkthroughs of compositional and artistic decisions. The workshop covers layout, texturing, lighting, and compositing through two full CG shot demonstrations, emphasizing resourceful filmmaker thinking over traditional studio processes.

The course includes over 100 flare textures, five professionally captured smoke assets in 4K .EXR and ProRes formats, and instruction on grounding CG in reality through camera work, animation principles, and A.I. asset integration. You’ll learn techniques for creating procedural flares, quickly building scenes with A.I. assets across 2D to full 3D, and enhancing existing CG. The included assets are licensed for both non-commercial and commercial use in finished projects, though redistribution as standalone stock is not permitted.

Prior experience with Nuke is required, though Nuke Non-Commercial is available free with minimal limitations. Blender experience is helpful but not necessary, as the 3D principles taught transfer across software packages. Email support is provided with typical response time of 3–5 days. The workshop recommends 50GB of storage due to file sizes of the smoke assets.
