Blender Creature Effects – Grooming Section
Overview
This course guides you through creating a fully groomed creature character in Blender, spanning modeling, texturing, grooming, rigging, and animation. The modeling section covers foundational sculpting and mesh editing, skeletal structure analysis, and detailed refinement of the body and head using topology principles. You’ll create oral structures, nails, and finalize the base mesh before moving to texturing.
The texturing workflow includes UV unwrapping across all body parts, painting base color blocks and details in both Blender and Krita, and creating specialized materials for skin, eyes, nose, paws, nails, lips, teeth, and other anatomical features. The grooming section focuses on hair creation using Blender’s particle system, covering hair guide structure, styling across different body regions (head, body, tail, legs, ears), and material adjustments for realistic hair effects.
The rigging section teaches bone creation, constraints, skinning, and custom rigging for the spine, limbs, tail, and face, including shape keys for facial expressions. The course concludes with animation fundamentals, including walking and howling animations, with instruction on keyframing, graph editing, and refining movement across all body parts and facial expressions. Several introductory lessons are marked as free content.
