This beginner-tier course teaches fundamental concept art skills for aspiring film industry artists. It covers the complete workflow of creating concept art for movies, from initial ideation through final execution. You’ll learn cinematic composition principles, camera and lens techniques that enhance storytelling, and how to work effectively with both 2D sketching and 3D resources.
The course emphasizes practical fundamentals often glossed over in other training. Topics include quick sketching methods and line drawing as rapid ideation tools, 3D modeling principles using the big-medium-small approach, texturing techniques, and character, creature, prop, and vehicle design. You’ll explore when and why different tools matter, triplanar texturing for natural model appearance, and how to avoid building everything from scratch by leveraging existing resources.
